The Center for Creative Living is a Counseling Center with

Multidisciplinary Opportunities for Mind, Body, and Spirit

The Center's staff members are all licensed and/or certified in their specialty.  Therapists are specially trained to provide you with a wide range of healing approaches.

Donna Rockwell, Psy.D., LLP

Dr. Rockwell is a humanistic psychologist, whose work with clients emphasizes wellbeing and health. Rather than viewing behavioral symptoms as illness-related, Dr. Rockwell helps clients heighten mental clarity and lessen psychological confusion by deconstructing existing blocks to meaningful engagement in work, love and play.

As clients learn to focus on wellness, human development and self-actualization naturally occur, allowing for the realization of one’s full potential.

Integrating the most advanced theories of mind/body science with humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and contemplative psychotherapeutic approaches, Dr. Rockwell generates treatment plans that are uniquely tailored to each individual, addressing issues ranging from anxiety and depression to existential questions of life and death. Dr. Rockwell works with adults, children, adolescents, and couples. She is also a mindfulness/awareness meditation teacher.

Dr. Rockwell has been a staff psychologist at the Center for Creative Living since 1999. She is an adjunct faculty member at the Center for Humanistic Studies Graduate School in Farmington Hills, where she teaches qualitative research, dissertation writing, and is a Masters Thesis advisor. Dr. Rockwell runs interpersonal therapy groups, provides psychological testing, and is an out-patient youth and family therapist at Common Ground Sanctuary, a teen shelter in Royal Oak. She conducts breast cancer support groups and meditation workshops at Beaumont Hospital, and her interviews with leading meditation teachers have been published in Shambhala Sun Magazine. Dr. Rockwell presented her recent research findings on the phenomenology of fame and celebrity at the International Communications Association (ICA) conference in New York City in May 2005.
