Beth Shaw-Draves MA
Beth Shaw-Draves is a psycho-dynamically trained therapist offering individual, couples, and family therapy. Her practice focuses on a holistic approach to counseling and psychological well-being, in which the client is encouraged to view his or her emotional development and relationship dynamics as part of a larger picture that integrates mind, body, and soul.
Beth encourages client-directed counseling with the aim of increased self actualization and the attainment of higher needs. She works with clients on a variety of issues, including: self esteem, women’s issues, life transitions, peri- and postnatal mothering and mood disorders, adolescent transitions, communication issues, relationship issues, depressive and anxious disorders, and gay and lesbian issues. Beth offers a unique approach to counseling, utilizing hypnosis, guided imagery, creative visualization, and journaling along side more traditional therapeutic techniques, designing an individual and unique plan for each client.
Beth received her MA in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy, and has been in practice for over 5 years. She is also training in Hypnosis through the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. Beth is affiliated with the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH), the Michigan Association of Professional Psychologists (MAPP), and the Michigan Psychological Association (MPA).
